IN OUR GENES

Ever wish you could change the way you look?
Growing up, I definitely did. My dad was 195 cm tall, muscular, with a great complexion
and cool hazel eyes. I always thought, I want to be even taller than him.
Well… I didn't quite get there—I stopped at 187 cm. Plus, I ended up with brown eyes
and pale skin from my British mom. Not exactly what I had imagined, and honestly, I
used to feel pretty jealous.
Then there's my younger brother Mike—basically a giant. Over 2 meters tall, muscular,
glowing skin, rosy cheeks… and bright blue eyes from our grandmother. Yeah, I was
jealous of him, too.
And my youngest brother Dave? Same height as me, just as strong—but he's got three
dimples. Two on his cheeks and one on his chin. Even that made me think, seriously?
Can I get at least one?
At one point, I just wanted everything—tall like Mike, built like my dad, hazel or blue
eyes, glowing skin, rosy cheeks, and those dimples. The “perfect combo,” right?
But over time, I realized something pretty important…
We don't get to choose our genes. And honestly, that's okay.
What we can choose is how we see ourselves. Everyone has something unique about
them, even if it's not obvious at first. And in the end, looks aren't everything anyway.
Being kind, confident, and genuine—that's what really stands out.
Because of a good heart? That's always going to be more attractive than anything
genetics can give you.
